“As the sun rises at Cannon Beach” CashArtBlog

Just about any beach can be good, but Cannon Beach, Oregon can soothe your soul and make you want to throw away your day job and car keys in about two minutes flat. If you have never been to Cannon Beach, it is most certainly worth adding to your “I want to go there someday” list. CB is not about the sunshine, not about bikinis, and not about swimming.  So what’s the big deal you say?  Here are 7 things that make Cannon Beach better than most beach towns and more beautiful than any post card…

A Rock n’ Road Trip to a Bruce Springsteen Concert

Bruce Springsteen

Along I-84 near Arlington, Oregon and the Columbia River

A road trip to a Bruce Springsteen concert. I should just stop right there, because you could fill in the rest with your own experience or imagination. But I won’t. How about a father-daughter, 360-mile trip from Spokane, Washington; down along the beautiful Columbia River Gorge to see the Boss and the E Street Band at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon? How about having a little fun by sticking custom-made decals at various landmarks all along the way? If this sounds remotely interesting, read on my friend…

A West Coast Road Trip Wraps Up in Hollywood and Anaheim

I know, I know, when you think of a West Coast Road Trip, you don’t necessarily think of Hollywood and Anaheim. But here we are in Santa Monica, and the heavy lifting in this West Coast Road Trip is pretty much over. We have crammed 1700 miles and a lifetime of memories on this trip, and days 7, 8, and 9 will be spent in Southern California. So what would any self-respecting tourist do? Well drive our 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo down Santa Monica Boulevard into Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, and Hollywood, of course!

West Coast Road Trip Day 7 – Carmel to Santa Monica

West Coast Road Trip

If CashArtBlog is primarily about art, artists, and being creative, why dish out several long  posts on a west coast road trip? Because for me, and I suspect for a lot of people, traveling and “getting outside your box” is essential for getting and staying inspired, energized, and living a more full and complete life. This west coast road trip was the most visually exciting trip I have been on in a long time. Having said that, the 2011 west coast road trip extravaganza is winding down as we venture on from the art and beauty of Carmel, and hit California highway 1, south towards Santa Monica and Southern California…

West Coast Road Trip Day 6 – Carmel by-the-Sea

Carmel

The Lone Cypress

Leaving San Francisco was not easy, but the West Coast Road Trip had to get back on track with two nights and one day in Carmel By-the-Sea. The somewhat short drive south from Fisherman’s Wharf would allow us time to just hang out and discover if what I have heard about Carmel all these years was true…

West Coast Road Trip Day 4 & 5 – San Francisco

San Francisco

The Golden Gate Bridge - CashArtBlog

After 3 incredible days and over 1000 miles on this west coast road trip extravaganza,  it’s time to take a break from the road in San Francisco. Our senses are on overload already, none of us have ever been to San Francisco before, and we find ourselves right in the thick of things at Fisherman’s Wharf.

West Coast Road Trip Day 3 – The Redwoods to the Golden Gate

west coast road tripOn this third day of our West Coast Road Trip, we again get up early with great expectations for the day ahead.  The first two days of this family extravaganza  have been nothing less than fantastic, and my senses are on overload. Before leaving Crescent City in the rear view mirror, we take a little detour into the Crescent City Harbor, where the sea lions have almost taken over the place.   Before going any further, if you would like to start from the beginning, here is day one.

west coast road trip

This is the second post in a series chronicling a 1700 mile west coast road trip from Spokane, Wa., to Southern California. West Coast Road Trip – 1700 Miles of American Grandeur

west coast road trip

Mt Hood in August, CashArtBlog

Having just completed a fantastic west coast road trip from Spokane, Wa., to Southern California, I thought I would share some of the highlights (and there were many) from a west coast road trip that covered small towns, big cities, mountains, beaches, wildlife, forests, deserts, rivers, the windiest road I have ever been on in my life, some 1700 miles, and 3 wrong turns…
