Five Facebook Stats That Really Matter for Artists

Facebook

Facebook Stats...CashArtBlog

Every so often someone throws a few Facebook stats out there and exclaims how Facebook is “taking over the world.” Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. The Facebook statistics are staggering however, and it’s up to each artist to decide if Facebook is a marketing platform or a social tool, or both. Either way is fine, but some Facebook stats are more important than others when it comes to marketing your art…  [Read more…]

"Autumn Centerpiece", Craig Shillam, oil, 14" x 24"

“Autumn Centerpiece”, Craig Shillam, oil, 14″ x 24″

What exactly is gratitude anyway? It’s not a word heard often these days. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I thought I would set the table and offer up a modest banquet of quotes about gratitiude and being thankful in life and in art. It’s just so easy to focus on ourselves and what we want, and forget about what we already have… [Read more…]

An Exhibit on Impressionism with a Twist

"Washerwomen at Trouville," Eugene Louis Boudin, Oil on Panel, 1885

When most people think of impressionism, they think of the Mt. Rushmore of the movement. Monet, Degas, Manet, Renoir, and maybe a couple of others. These names crossed my mind too before I stepped through the doors of an exhibit on Impressionism at our local museum. But there was no Monet, no Degas, no Manet. However there were 41 Impressionism paintings tracing the beginning of the movement from Europe to the Pacific Northwest. And it was really good.

A West Coast Road Trip Wraps Up in Hollywood and Anaheim

I know, I know, when you think of a West Coast Road Trip, you don’t necessarily think of Hollywood and Anaheim. But here we are in Santa Monica, and the heavy lifting in this West Coast Road Trip is pretty much over. We have crammed 1700 miles and a lifetime of memories on this trip, and days 7, 8, and 9 will be spent in Southern California. West Coast Road Trip Day 7 – Carmel to Santa Monica

West Coast Road Trip

If CashArtBlog is primarily about art, artists, and being creative, why dish out several long  posts on a west coast road trip? Because for me, and I suspect for a lot of people, traveling and “getting outside your box” is essential for getting and staying inspired, energized, and living a more full and complete life. This west coast road trip was the most visually exciting trip I have been on in a long time. Having said that, the 2011 west coast road trip extravaganza is winding down as we venture on from the art and beauty of Carmel, and hit California highway 1, south towards Santa Monica and Southern California…
